One and two-parent families make up the majority of our homeless, but there are at least 5 other homeless populations in Cabarrus County:
- Single women
- Chronically homeless
- Young adults aging out of foster care
- Adults needing residential rehabilitation
- Previously incarcerated individuals
In a March 2017 survey, found these statistics in Cabarrus County:
Fair market rent for a 1 bedroom apartment is $600.
Fair market rent for a 2 bedroom apartment is $740.
Fair market rent for a 3 bedroom apartment is $914.
Affordable Tax Credit Housing Available - 2 bedroom is $685 (92% of Fair market rent).
In order to afford a 2 bedroom "Affordable" rent, a single mother would need to make $34,400 ($16.50/hour).
