Alyssa Smith - Cabarrus Health Alliance
Alyssa Smith serves as the Executive Director for the community collaborative, Healthy Rowan. Healthy Rowan seeks to work across organizations to advocate, collaborate, and educate towards a healthier Rowan County. Ms. Smith received her Bachelors of Science in Psychology and double minors in Chemistry and Biology from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill with a focus on psychometrics. After graduating, Ms. Smith completed a three-year Research Specialist fellowship on an NIH-funded nutrition research study focusing on the connection between diet and disease in youth. Following the fellowship, she completed her Masters of Public Health in Health Promotion, Education, and Behavior at the University of South Carolina, with an emphasis in community health development and creating healthier environments for all. Ms. Smith served as the Grant Writer for the Cabarrus Health Alliance, the public health authority in Cabarrus County. Trained through The Grantsmanship Center and through her experience as grant writer, she secured more than $1.5 million in funding in one year for the agency for community and clinical programs through federal, state, and foundation grants. Ms. Smith now works with community partners focusing on ways to make health accessible for all.
