Cabarrus County CROP Hunger Walk
FAQs
Q: What is a CROP Walk?
A: The Cabarrus County CROP Hunger Walk is an event to continue the fight against hunger and poverty in our community as well as globally.
Q: When I get to the walk, do I need to sign a waiver?
A: There is a CWS COVID waiver form that walkers should sign at the event. Those who set up an online fundraising page at www.crophungerwalk.org/cabarruscountync already digitally signed the waiver and do not need to do so again. Individuals walking on their own or with their household do not need to sign a form, but teams gathering together should sign.
Q: Where?
A: The walk will start at Forest Hill United Methodist Church (265 Union St. N, Concord) walking on the sidewalks through local neighborhoods.
Q: When?
A: Registration/sign-in opens at 1:00 PM; The Walk starts at 2:00 PM.
Q: Are there CROP T-shirts available?
A: Yes. T-shirts are available free of charge on a first come first serve basis at the walk.
Q: Are walk materials available? If so, how do we pick them up?
A: Yes, walker envelopes, posters, bulletin inserts, and other materials will be available during a “drive through pick up” on Sept. 2nd from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Forest Hill UMC. After that date, materials will be available at Cooperative Christian Ministry. (246 Country Club Dr NE, Concord.) Please contact Jamie Richardson to confirm plans for pick up. jrichardson@cooperativeministry.com; 704-625-2137.
Q: What’s the best way to fundraise?
A: Online is best. Teams and individuals should register online. Go to www.crophungerwalk.org/cabarruscountync. After the Team is listed on the website by the Team Captain, walkers can sign up on that Team and donations can be received by credit/debit card. Cash & Checks can also be collected in the walker envelopes.
Q: How do we turn in cash and checks?
A: Walkers who collect cash and checks should give their funds to the Team Captain and the Team Captain can turn them in at the walk or send the money to the walk treasurer, Kevin Charles, afterward. (Cash should be converted into a check before mailing.) Checks should be payable to “CWS/CROP”. Mail to: Kevin Charles, CCM, PO Box 1717, Concord, NC 28026
Q: Are we still collecting canned food for CCM?
A: Yes, food can be dropped off at CCM from 10:00 – 1:00 PM each day. (246 Country Club Dr, Concord) or from 1:00-3:00p.m. on Walk day.

A: Promote the walk with your congregation or group. Register your Team Online. Sign up walkers to participate. Collect their funds after the walk and send to the Walk Treasurer. (Unless they raise all their money online.)
Q: What ideas are Team Captains using to sign up walkers and encourage fundraising this year?
A: Some ideas include: Promote online sign-up on their team; Announcements during church Zoom meetings, services: newsletter announcements; calling/emailing past participants; church email distribution lists; contacting church Outreach committee; Clergy announces during weekly messages; mailing walker envelopes to interested folks; walking challenges among Sunday school classes such as most funds raised, most miles walked, etc.
